India’s First Gen-Z Post Office: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has established the country’s first Gen-Z Post Office. This post office is as smart as the Gen-G generation.

India’s First Gen-Z Post Office: Now everything has become easy in the internet world. You can send money by scanning a QR, order anything with a single click and handle all banking transactions from the comfort of your home. Social media and internet have helped in making people self-reliant in every household of India. In this series, India’s post offices are also being upgraded. India has got its first Gen-G post office. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has established the country’s first Gen-G post office. This post office is as smart as the Gen-G generation.
All post offices on campus will become smart
The Indian Postal Department has created this post office keeping in mind the needs of today’s new youth. Similarly, now the Indian Postal Department has started an initiative to give a new digital and Gen-G look to the 46 post offices present in the IIT campus by 15 December 2025. According to a PIB press release, this initiative reflects the vision of Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to transform post offices into youth-centric spaces that resonate with today’s students and young citizens.

These facilities will be available in Gen-G Post Office
You will get all types of digital services in this Gen-G post office. The office will have facilities like Wi-Fi, parcel booking through QR, speed post discount for students, smart service touchpoint. This Gen-Ji Post Office will provide services to more than 10 thousand students and teachers of the campus. In this initiative, the Indian Postal Department has also started a student franchise model in IIT Delhi.
Students designed the entire office
The special thing about this Gen-G Post Office is that it has been completely designed by the children of the campus. In this, students have been included as brand ambassadors, producers and social media managers. Students will also get the experience of running a post office through the student franchise model. The director, dean, faculty and students of IIT Delhi participated in the inauguration of this post office. The Ministry of Communications said about Gen-G Post Office, this initiative was started keeping the youth in mind, the aim of which is to make the post offices of the country more attractive, useful and modern. The ministry says that soon similar facilities will be available in other universities and institutions across the country.
