DGCA on Saturday issued a show cause notice to IndiGo CEO Peter Albers and Accountable Manager Isidro Porqueras.
Answer sought within 24 hours
In a notice sent to Albers and Porcaras, the regulator said the large-scale operational failures demonstrate major lapses in planning, monitoring and resource management. In this, a reply has been sought within 24 hours regarding large-scale disruptions in flights. If satisfactory response is not received, action will be taken against Indigo. Porcaras is the Accountable Manager and Chief Operating Officer of IndiGo. Let us tell you that for the last five consecutive days, there have been major incidents of operational problems in IndiGo, in which hundreds of flights have been canceled and delayed, due to which thousands of passengers are facing problems.

Arrangements not made as per FDTL norms
“…as the CEO, you are responsible for ensuring effective management of the airline, but you have failed in your duty to make timely arrangements for reliable operations and to provide necessary facilities to passengers,” the regulator said in a notice sent to Albers. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked Albers and Porcaras to respond within 24 hours. The notice states that the airline did not meet the changed requirements after implementing the new FDTL (Flight Duty Time Limitation) norms, which is the main reason for the flight disruptions.
Aviation Minister held a meeting
On Saturday, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu held a serious meeting with senior officials of the ministry along with Albers to review the situation and resolve the issues, a government official said. The officer also said that based on the findings of the inquiry committee, the authorities will take appropriate action on the disruption in IndiGo flights.
