International vehicle thief gang busted, eight arrested

Delhi Police said that Dubai -based mastermind Aamir Pasha is the kingpin of this gang. He was stealing luxury vehicles in Delhi-NCR and other states.

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Friday arrested eight members after busting the international vehicle thief gang. The master mind of the gang was operating the entire network by staying in Dubai. The gang used to steal and sell the expensive vehicles parked. Delhi Police said that Dubai -based mastermind Aamir Pasha is the kingpin of this gang. He was stealing luxury vehicles in Delhi-NCR and other states. Police said that a look-out circular has been issued against Pasha.

More than 70 cases registered including robbery, vehicle theft against Taju

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Apoorva Gupta, the investigation began on August 18 last year with the arrest of Taj Mohammad alias Taju (40) from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. Taju is a major player of syndicate and more than 70 cases have been registered against him including robbery, night theft and vehicle theft. Seven other people were arrested in questioning Taju. Kunal Jaiswal (24) of Mumbai, who is the lead buyer of stolen vehicles and Akbar (40), who is a financial and distributor connected to buyers in Northeast India.

Many expensive vehicles were recovered

Others arrested include Matin Khan (24), Nagendra Singh (46), Manish Arya (48) and Nadeem (38). DCP Gupta said, “A total of 15 high-end vehicles were recovered during the operation, including three Kia Sailtos, three Hyundai SUVs including Alzazar and Creta, three Toyota vehicles including one Fortuner and two Innova, Maruti models like Brezza, Swift and Baleno. Police also confirmed fake registration plates and fake registrations of fake registrations. Some vehicles done were recovered from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. The accused were caught in many places including Purvanchal Expressway in February this year.

Gupta said that Aamir Pasha used to direct the entire operation from Dubai using advanced vehicle hacking tools and programming devices. The way of working of the gang included using the programming kit of the gang, neutralizing GPS (global positioning system) trackers and taking vehicles to remote areas of the country or dividing them into different parts. The gang used a network of receiver and transporters in several states including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Nagaland. Police said that efforts are on to arrest other absconding members.
