Refuting viral claims about changes in the time of Tatkal ticket booking on social media, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has clarified that no change has been made in immediate or premium immediate booking time. This statement has been released in response to the post going on social media, claiming amendment in booking time. IRCTC said in a post on ‘X’ on 13 April that at present no such change is proposed for AC or Non-AC class in immediate booking time.
According to the current rules, the immediate booking opens one day before the departure scheduled from its original station of the train.
- For AC Class (2A, 3A, CC, EC, 3E): Booking will start at 10:00 am.
- For non-AC class (SL, FC, 2S): Booking will start at 11:00 am.
For example, if a train departs on April 19, the booking of AC Tatkal tickets will start from 10:00 am on April 18 and the booking of non-AC tickets will be from 11:00 am. The IRCTC post also clarified that the booking time permitted for the agents will also be unchanged. This means that authorized agents will continue to follow the existing schedule without any change. IRCTC has urged passengers to rely on official updates.
This explanation has come at a time when misinformation about Tatkal ticketing on social media platforms is widely spreading. IRCTC reminded the passengers that no official communication has been done about any amendment during the booking time. Passengers are advised to use official channels like IRCTC website or app for all travel and ticketing information. The immediate plan allows booking for all classes except first AC, including four passengers per PNR and additional immediate fees.
