The police have arrested two people in connection with the explosion at Punjab BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia’s house in Jalandhar. E-rickshaws used in the incident have also been recovered.
Punjab: The police have arrested two people in connection with the explosion at the house in Jalandhar, BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia on Tuesday. A senior police officer said that the e-rickshaw used in the incident has also been recovered.
Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla said that the crime was done to spoil communal harmony. Shukla said that this was a major conspiracy of Pakistan’s ISI. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and (Pakistani gangster) Shahzad Bhatti’s associate Zeeshan Akhtar hatched a conspiracy. He said that the possible relations of Babbar Khalsa International are also under investigation, as well as said that Punjab Police is in touch with central agencies.
Former cabinet minister and former Punjab BJP president Kalia was at home at the time of the incident
It is known that the gate was damaged in the blast at Kalia’s house in Jalandhar on Tuesday morning. The glass of the windows of his house was also broken. His SUV and the motorcycle standing in the courtyard broke. Police said that there were no casualties in this incident. At the time of the incident, former cabinet minister and former Punjab BJP president Kalia was at home. He is also a member of the BJP’s National Executive. In the last four-five months, there have been several explosions targeting police posts in Amritsar and Gurdaspur, but this is the first such incident when the house of a major politician was targeted.
AAP government targeted ‘AAP’ for deteriorating law and order
Last month, there was an explosion outside a temple in Amritsar. On the other hand, the opposition parties targeted the ‘AAP’ government over the deteriorating law and order in the state and asked Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to resign on moral grounds. Police said that a loud voice was heard at Kalia’s residence near Shastri Market in Jalandhar. Deputy Commissioner of Police Manpreet Singh said that there were no casualties in the incident.
Kalia, a member of the BJP’s National Executive, said that this hand grenade can occur. Kalia said that the grenade attack was so severe that the partition of the house was badly damaged. The glass of the kitchen window was damaged. The bathroom door was damaged. The explosion led to a small hole on the floor at the entrance of the house. His SUV and motorcycle standing in the courtyard were also damaged. Kalia said that he was sleeping when he heard the sound of the explosion.
He said that he first felt that the power transformer had exploded due to overloading. His driver told him that it was an explosion. BJP Jalandhar District President Sushil Sharma said that some unknown persons came in e-rickshaws and threw a grenade towards the leader’s residence. CCTV footage of the incident has revealed that an e-rickshaw first passed in front of their house. After some time the e-rickshaw returned and then exploded. CCTV footage shows sparks and smoke.
Police station is located just 100 meters from the spot
The BJP leader said that the police station is located about 100 meters from the scene. After the incident, senior police officers including Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur reached the spot to take stock of the situation. He said that we have investigated the scene. Our forensic teams have also investigated it. He said that security has been increased in major areas including bus stand and railway stations. After the incident, Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu and Pathankot MLA Ashwini Sharma visited Kalia’s residence.
