Kane Williamson Retires: Kane Williamson has announced his retirement from T20 international cricket. He believes that new players should also get a chance and now the time has come to take the Black Caps forward.
Kane Williamson Retires: New Zealand cricket team’s veteran player Kane Williamson announced his retirement from T20 cricket on Sunday. Along with this, there was speculation for a long time that he would soon say goodbye to T-20, now that debate has come to an end. Meanwhile, he also made it clear that he will continue his game in Test and ODI cricket. Let us tell you that his 14-year journey has ended with T-20 and he had debuted in this format in 2011. Also, he played his last match against Papua New Guinea last year.
This was the reason given for taking retirement
While announcing his retirement, Williamson said that this is a format in which he was a part for a long time. For this I am grateful to the memories of all the coaches and players. Now the time has come for me and the team to say goodbye to T-20 international cricket. Also, I am in favor of giving opportunity to new players, because the World Cup will be played in 2026 where energetic players are needed the most. He further said that we have a lot of talent in T20 format and it is most important to utilize them in the coming times. Let us tell you that even though Williamson has announced his retirement from T20 international cricket, he will continue to play T20 leagues around the world.
Team command in good hands: Kane
Kane Williamson has played 93 international T20 matches, in which he scored 2575 at an average of 33. During this period he scored 18 half-centuries and had the highest score of 95 runs. Meanwhile, Williamson praised the current T20 captain Mitchell Santner and said that the team command has been given in the right hands and he is a great captain. I hope that he will be successful in getting the team a respectable position in the coming tournament. Along with this, while showcasing his ability, he said that now the time has come that he should pass on the Black Cap title to some other player and I will sit in the pavilion of this game and watch it. On the other hand, New Zealand Cricket Chief Executive Officer Scott Weenink congratulated the great player Williamson. Winink said that Kane’s performance in T-20 cricket has been excellent.
