Mahagathbandhan Seat Sharing: There is a continuous challenge regarding seat sharing in the Mahagathbandhan. Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav have left for Delhi and it was expected that they would discuss about seat sharing.
Mahagathbandhan Seat Sharing: Before the Bihar Assembly elections, there is a fight over seat sharing in the Grand Alliance. Even after the announcement of election dates, no plan has been made yet regarding seat distribution in the Grand Alliance. Earlier it was said that the formula for seat sharing has been decided and there is marriage on some seats too, which will be resolved soon. But now news is coming out that the matter has become quite complicated. Meanwhile, it has been learned that the seat sharing dispute may continue for some time, because RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav has left for Delhi with his son Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday.
RJD family can meet Congress
Lalu Prasad Yadav, the party authorized to take decisions on seat distribution and selection of candidates, has an influential presence in the Grand Alliance. When the father-son duo came out of their residence along with Lalu Prasad’s wife and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, screams of disappointment echoed among the candidates who were expecting to meet their supporters. The security personnel had to struggle a lot to evict them from Rabri Devi’s bungalow, which is located right in front of the Chief Minister’s residence. It is being told that RJD’s family is reaching Delhi to demand intervention from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. A report in a section of the media has claimed that the Congress believes that after the success of the Voters’ Rights Yatra, it is no longer a weak party in the state and it wants to contest elections on almost the same number of seats as it had contested five years ago.
How will the seats be distributed?
A key close aide of the RJD chief said on the condition of anonymity that Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav have left for Delhi as there is a hearing on the ‘jobs in exchange for land scam’ tomorrow. Of course, the possibility of meeting senior leaders in the national capital cannot be ruled out. The scam pertains to alleged irregularities that took place when Prasad was the Railway Minister in the Congress-led UPA government. Sources also claimed that we have made up our mind and will contest at least half of the 243 seats. Sources said that RJD will contest elections on more seats than in 2020, because more than 140 seats were contested in 2020 also. He further said that not only Congress, but small political parties will also have to focus on their ambitions.
