UTTARAKHAND: General life has been affected due to floods in Chamoli of Uttarakhand. Ten people have gone missing here and strong water of Moksha River has damaged many buildings.
Uttarakhand: After heavy rains in Chamoli district Nandanagar in Uttarakhand, a village house collapsed in a landslide after heavy rains and a river water is also in spate. Ten people went missing due to landslides. Nandanagar is already struggling with landslides and 8 people, including four members of the same family, are missing in Kuntari village. It is being told that more than half a dozen houses have been hit in the grip of landslides. At the same time, Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari said that the other two people are from Dhurma village, where the strong water of Moksha river has damaged many buildings. Local relief and rescue teams are campaigning in search of missing people in Kuntari. DM said that the road going to Nandanagar has been blocked due to heavy debris.
10 people missing in landslide
According to the District Disaster Management Office, the missing people include Jagdamba Prasad (70), his wife Kanta Devi, and his two sons Vikas and Vishal (10 years), (38) Kunwar Singh (42), Narendra Singh (40), his wife Bhaga Devi (65) and Deveshwari Devi (65). The local resident and vice -president of the district branch of the district branch of the Indian Red Cross is involved in the relief and rescue operations. He said that the rescue operation is being interrupted due to the swamp. He told that more than 10 people have been injured, but it is difficult to reach them to the hospital because the road going to Nandanagar is closed in many places.
Helicopters are waiting
Rescue team personnel said that we are waiting for the helicopter to take the injured to the hospital. He further said that at three places in Kuntari, there was a flood of soil and stone from the hills, due to which the roads were badly affected. Nandan Singh said that due to heavy rains in the Mokh Valley area, the Moksha River was flooded, causing the river erosion and dozens of buildings, including six houses, was damaged. Two are missing. The District Disaster Management Office said that the missing people have been identified as Guman Singh (75) and Mamta Devi (38). National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Force teams have reached the spot with a medical team and three ambulances.
