Magh Mela Prayagraj: Last year the Maha Kumbh Mela became famous all over the world. The world saw the flood of Sanatan. Now once again a fair is going to be held in Prayagraj. Magh Mela in Prayagraj will start from Paush Purnima on 3 January and will conclude with the royal bath of Mahashivratri on 15 February. It is believed that taking a dip in the Sangam during this time washes away all the sins. Preparations for Prayagraj fair have already started. When will the holy bath take place?
The fair and Kalpavas will start from 3rd January, Paush Purnima, on this day Kshadhalu will take bath in Sangam. 14 January, Makar Sankranti, is the holy day of Sun’s Uttarayan, the second bath will take place on this day. The most important and biggest bath will take place on 18th January, Mauni Amavasya. After this, the bath will take place on 23 January, the day of Saraswati Puja, Vasant Panchami. 1st February, Maghi Purnima, is the main bath for Kalpavasis. On 15th February, Mahashivratri, the last bath will take place and the fair will end. These days, crowds of devotees gather on the banks of the Sangam. The atmosphere is filled with reverence and devotion.

Kalpavas will be for 29 days
Kalpavas is the main point of Magh Mela. During Kalpavas, devotees stay away from worldly pleasures for some time and live a life of meditation, penance and restraint. They build huts and live there. During these days, they adopt a religious lifestyle and remain completely engaged in the meditation of God. He bathes in the Ganga every day. They keep chanting mantras and singing bhajans all the time. This year, according to the calendar, the duration of Kalpavas will be 29 days. Kalpvas will start from Paush Purnima on 3 January and will end with a bath on Maghi Purnima on 1 February.
Special buses and trains will be run
For Magh Mela 2026, a tent city is being built in an area of about 800 hectares, which is a much larger area than before. To handle the huge crowd, 7 pontoon bridges have been built instead of 6. Special trains will be run in Magh Mela. Special buses will also be run to ease the route of the fair and for the convenience of the devotees. There will be heavy police deployment. CM Yogi Adityanath himself will take stock of the preparations.
