Mumbai Municipal Corporation Elections: The ruling parties have started preparations for the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections and said that this time the fight will be fought by making development an issue.
Mumbai Municipal Corporation Elections : The ruling and the opposition have started preparations for the upcoming Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections and have also started allegations and counter-allegations. Meanwhile, Mumbai BJP vice president Ravi Raj on Thursday claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led grand alliance will win the city civic polls with a huge majority due to its focus on development. He said that the influence of Congress has reduced considerably in the municipal elections and it will not be able to play more of a role than a regional player. Let us tell you that Raja, former leader of opposition in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), joined BJP in 2024 after spending more than 40 years.
Projects implemented
Speaking to news agency PTI, the BJP leader said that the Thackeray cousins (Raj and Uddhav), who were once separate, will not be able to stand in front of the grand alliance even after coming together. He said that development will be the main election issue in Mumbai and now development is clearly visible in Mumbai. Also, under the leadership of the Mahayuti government, big projects were implemented in Mumbai and this had never happened before. He said that I think this time Mahayuti will get majority in Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Apart from this, while talking about the redevelopment of Dharavi, he said that Congress and its allies ignored the slums spread in Mumbai and its residents for decades.
Voters who are not fooled
Congress and NCP (undivided) together ruled the state for about 15 years (1999-2014). But why was development not done then? If you look at the MLAs and MPs of Dharavi in the last 50 years, all of them are from the same party, but even after this there was no wave of development. The BJP leader alleged that the current Congress MLAs do not want the redevelopment of Dharavi, otherwise the colony would have been redeveloped in the last 15 years. Raja said that now the Mahayuti government is redeveloping Dharavi and fulfilling the demands of the people, while the Congress is having stomach ache. Also, when there was Shiv Sena (UBT) led government, tenders were issued for redevelopment of Dharavi. Also, when he was asked about Marathi-non-Marathi, he said that political parties are eyeing Marathi votes, but such voters are not going to fall into their trap.
