Manipur will not be removed from Nagaland and Arunachal AFSPA

AFSPA in North East States: According to the latest notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the state of Manipur has been declared as a ‘turbulent region’ for six months from 1 April 2025 to six months due to unrest.

AFSPA In North East States: The situation in Manipur is not good at all for the last 2 years. In order to maintain security system in the state, the Armed Forces Special Safety Powers Act (AFSPA) has been announced to extend for six months. Apart from this, it has been extended for 6 months in Arunachal Pradesh and some areas of Nagaland.

According to the latest notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs in this subject, the state of Manipur has been declared as a ‘turbulent region’ for six months from 1 April 2025 due to unrest. But it has also been clarified in this order that areas under the jurisdiction of 13 police stations of 5 districts have been kept out of this order.

What are the rights with armed forces in AFSPA?

In the notification from the ministry, it has been said that this big decision has been taken in view of the current situation in Manipur. The armed forces under AFSPA have the right to shoot for any suspicious activity. Along with this, anyone has the right to arrest or search if needed. These rules are very important to maintain law and order in the place where AFSPA is applied.

According to reports, the situation has become normal in Manipur, Nagaland in the past few times. But the fire of mutual quarrel is not extinguished yet. The separatists and extremists are still trying to carry out their activities there.
