New Delhi: There is no limit for Dr. Girish Mohan Gupta. His spirit is saluted. At the age of 84, when most people like to rest, this experienced scientist and entrepreneur have added another achievement to their achievements-IIM-Sambalpur to MBA degree-and they are already preparing for PHD in their next educational journey, management. After obtaining his degree from the prestigious institute last week, Gupta said that there is no age limit to learn.

He said that as long as you are curious and interested, a new opportunity is created every day. With an impressive CGPA of 7.4, Gupta emerged as one of the most frequent performance in his batch under the MBA for Working Professionals program. Balancing rigid classes of weekends with corporate responsibilities was not an easy task, but discipline and passion inspired them to move forward. He said that I never allowed age to come between myself and my curiosity. I like the game, I regularly swim and play badminton. Fitness and learning are an integral part of my life.

He told that he was often one of the first to reach the campus for classes. Born in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, Gupta is a remarkable journey from a small town to the major nuclear power institutions of India to learn determination and lifetime. After graduating in Mechanical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University, he proceeded through rank at Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), where he contributed to important projects related to fast breeder reactors. Gupta said that during one of my initial assignments at BARC, I was tasked to design sodium-based equipment for breeder reactors. We had to innovate with limited resources and the spirit of ‘Make in India’ was still very alive.

It was said that after a successful career in nuclear research, Gupta brought diversity in industrial innovation, established undertakings to develop security and automation products for Indian Railways, Defense Institutions and private sector companies. Indigenization of manufacturing processes, which will save foreign currency of hundreds of crores of rupees. In honor of his contribution, Gupta was given the then President of India in 1986, R.K. Venkataraman received a National Award. He developed perforated tape concertina coil, which was an important high-protection fencing product used during the Indo-Pak border rebellion in 1984–85, which played a major role in combating Sikh extremism. For decades, Gupta has been recognized as one of the top neo -renovators of India in the fields of defense, nuclear power and railway technology.
Advice to the younger generation to stay connected with their roots
In 2022, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) awarded his company – Global Engineers Limited – Industrial Innovation Award. It considered it one of the most new ventures in India. He said that the title, award and designation are milestones, not the floor. True success lies in remaining relevant and hungry for knowledge. Gupta advises the younger generation to stay connected with their roots due to their children and grandson being settled in India and abroad. Study wherever you want, but remember – returning to your country’s service is a privilege, not sacrifice. Now there are no signs of slowing down the steps of Gupta, preparing to do another PhD. If you like to learn, then life becomes your class. He said that I want to continue learning till my last breath.
