In 2024, 3,381 cases were registered during the same period, while 3,865 cases were registered in 2023.

Hunting women alone

Police officials say that snatching usually uses stolen or unregistered two -wheelers. The miscreants often make women or elderly their victims their victims. An official said that many CCTVs either do not work or do not capture the number plate clearly. He said that in many areas, snacks deliberately use dark places for their benefit. In some cases, they also take off helmets or jackets and leave the car to mislead investigators. A senior police officer said that since the snatching occurs in a few seconds, the aggrieved criminals or the car used in crime are unable to remember, which makes their identity difficult.

No security for women

The MP told PTI-Bhasha that a bike rider came for a walk with my fellow MP at around 6.15 am. He snatched my chain, tore my clothes and ran away. I made a voice for help, but no one came. After this, the MP informed a PCR van. However, he did not respond. I gave a complaint to the police and also wrote to the Home Minister and Lok Sabha Speaker through our MP Email ID to take action against the convict. I went to the hospital about my neck injury due to snatching. There is no security for women in this country. He further said that this has happened in an over-safe area near the Polish Embassy.

Police started investigation

Said that this is not a case of safety of a woman MP, but a case of safety of a common woman. This is a very shocking event and this should not happen to anyone. Delhi Police has registered a case and started investigation. Efforts are being made to identify and catch the accused with CCTV footage. Many MPs called the incident of chain snatching a major failure of law and order in the national capital. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi asked that the chain of an MP is taken away in broad daylight in a very safe area like Chanakyapuri. Congress Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari called this incident a reflection of daily law and order of Delhi.
