Karnataka News: A debate has once again erupted in Karnataka on the national anthem. The BJP MP said that the national anthem was sung for a British officer and now the Congress leader has reacted to it.
Karnataka News : A statement by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri in Karnataka has sparked controversy. He said that the country’s national anthem was written for a British officer and now there has been a political uproar over this statement. Congress leader and Karnataka government minister Priyank Kharge sharply criticized it, calling it complete nonsense and a WhatsApp history lesson of the RSS. Kageri made this comment while addressing a program organized in Honnavar to commemorate the completion of 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram. He argued that Vande Mataram should be given more importance. Also, ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Jana Gana Mana’ have equal status.
We are following: Kageri
The BJP MP said that I do not want to go into history, it is just that there was a strong demand to make Vande Mataram the national anthem, but our ancestors decided to keep Jana Gana Mana as the national anthem along with Vande Mataram, which was sung to welcome the British officer. Also, the makers of our Constitution accepted it and we are following it. Describing the contribution of Vande Mataram in the country’s freedom struggle as always inspiring, he said that on completion of 150 years, Vande Mataram should be spread to everyone. Responding to this, Priyank Kharge said that BJP MP Kageri is now claiming that the national anthem is British. This is complete nonsense and is just an RSS WhatsApp history lesson.
Sung to the creator of India’s destiny
Kharge further said that Rabindranath Tagore had written the hymn Bharato Bhagyo Bidhata in 1911 and its first stanza became Jana Gana Mana. This national anthem was first sung on 27 December 1911 at the Indian National Congress in Calcutta. Not as a royal tribute. He said that Tagore had made it clear in 1937 and 1939 that it praised the arbiter of India’s destiny and was never meant for George V. Apart from this, while reacting to the MP’s comment that I do not want to go into history, the Minister in Karnataka Government said that but I urge every leader, worker and volunteer of BJP and RSS to read the editorial of RSS mouthpiece Organizer and take a look at the history and know that RSS has a great tradition of disrespecting the Constitution, Tricolor and National Anthem.
