Odisha News : Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and former Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik has made a direct attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Patnaik on Monday accused the BJP of betrayal and said it was involved in candidate theft in connection with the Nuapada by-election in Odisha. At the same time, after recovering from the illness, the BJD President addressed the public meeting for the first time and said that you all know that BJD has been betrayed, the people who formed the government in the state by stealing votes have started stealing the candidates as well. He was given ticket by the party, but joined BJP before the by-election and is now contesting from there. After the death of Rajendra Dholakia on 8 September, it became necessary to hold by-elections. Voting on this seat was to be held on November 11. Now Naveen Patnaik appealed to press the button of BJD’s election symbol conch shell against those who steal candidates. This comment of the former Chief Minister is also important because BJD has mostly been giving unconditional support to the Modi government at the Center and for this it often has to face criticism. This mainly includes BJP candidate Ashwini Vaishnav’s support of major bills in Rajya Sabha and Parliament.
Government schemes stalled in the state
In his 10-minute address, Naveen Patnaik fiercely targeted the BJP government of Odisha and called it an administration that changed its name instead of a game changer. He accused the BJP government of focusing on publicity in the last 16 months and did nothing for development. They are heroes only in publicity but are zero in development work. Apart from this, development plans across the state have come to a complete halt.
The BJD President said that our government brought rapid development in Nuapada and expanded irrigation coverage to more than 10 thousand hectares from Biju Expressway. But now BJP has stopped all progress and is just concentrating on publicity. Besides, law and order has completely collapsed in the state, atrocities on women are continuously increasing and financial assistance to women under Mission Shakti has also been stopped. Apart from this, BJP had promised in the election campaign that after coming to power, Rs 3500 will be given in the accounts of the elderly, but no action has been taken regarding that yet.
