New Delhi: In view of increasing road accidents in the country, the Government of India is going to implement a new rule. The government believes that the new rule will reduce accidents and avoid the family disintegration. The government will use radar equipment to control the speed of vehicles from July 1, 2025, to strengthen safety and secure traffic operations.
These rules will be applicable from 1 July 2025, which will provide enough time to industries and enforcement agencies to comply with provisions. According to these rules, all radar-based speed measurements should be verified and seal by the legal science officers. This will ensure that such devices are correct and legally valid, which will increase honesty in transparency, public confidence and rules. The verified radar system will monitor the speed of vehicles. Also, important will also be kept in prevention of accidents.

These rules were formulated by a committee with technical input based on International Standards OIML R91. Before finalizing the rules, stakeholders, including the State Legal Metrology Department, Regional Reference Standard Laboratories, Manufacturers and Consumer Organizations, were consulted through feedback. The radar-based speed measurement equipment will give accurate information of the speed limit, which will increase road safety significantly. Citizens can drive with more confidence that compliance with these rules is scientifically valid and legally certified.
