New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the meeting of the tenth Governing Council of NITI Aayog on Saturday (May 24). The meeting is expected to discuss the roadmap to make India a developed nation by 2047. A senior government official said on Friday that after the operation vermilion, the Prime Minister will have the first major meeting with the Chief Ministers of all the states and union territories. According to the official, in the meeting, the initiatives made in the budget of 2025-26 and the challenges faced by the Indian economy are also expected to be discussed.

India’s economy will also be discussed

The Indian economy will also be discussed after the US administration led by President Donald Trump imposed mutual fees. India is expected to increase the scope of 6.2-6.7 percent in the current financial year despite being caught in the recession of the US economy, the growth of China’s growth and a slowdown in economic activities in countries globally. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank have reduced India’s development estimates for 2025-26 to 6.2 percent and 6.3 percent respectively, citing uncertain global environment and high trade tension. In January, the IMF and the World Bank had estimated India to grow at 6.5 percent and 6.7 percent respectively in the current financial year.

The first meeting of the council was held on February 8, 2015
