CM Nitish Kumar: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday said that there has been significant improvement in law and order in the state since his government came to power in November 2005. Claimed that now being a Bihari is a matter of pride for the people of the state. In a long post on X, the Chief Minister wrote that people cannot forget the Bihar before 2005, when crime and corruption in the state was at its peak. When our government came to power in 2005, we placed the restoration of law and order on top priority and established the rule of law. A policy of zero tolerance towards crime and corruption was adopted. Now there is no atmosphere of fear or terror in the state. Now being a Bihari is a matter of pride for the people of the state. Taking aim at the India Bloc without naming the opposition leaders, the CM said that before 2005 (when RJD was in power) there was complete anarchy in the state. It became difficult for people to come out of their homes after 6 pm. Our sisters and daughters were not safe.
Said- vehicles were looted from showrooms
Said that kidnapping had taken the form of an industry. Cars were looted from showrooms. No one wanted to buy a new vehicle due to fear of criminals. Said that even those with money did not want to build new houses. Industries were closed due to the terror of extortionists. Doctors and engineers were migrating from the state. He claimed that the entire system had collapsed. There was no such thing as law and order in Bihar. Crime had the direct patronage of those in power. The people of the state were forced to live under the shadow of fear. At that time being a Bihari was considered an insult. CM said that earlier the police had neither vehicles nor weapons. Kumar said that due to lack of modern weapons, police morale was very low. He said that in 2005 the number of police stations in Bihar was only 817, which has now increased to more than 1,380.
People of Bihar will not return to Jungle Raj
Said that when the new government came to power on 24 November 2005, the strength of Bihar Police was very less. At that time only 42,481 policemen were working. Since 2013, women are being given the benefit of 35 percent reservation in the police force. He said that to ensure the safety of women and to empower them, a large number of women constables have been recruited in Bihar Police. Apart from this, ‘Tribal Mahila Gaurav Battalion’ has been formed. He told that the participation of women in Bihar Police is now the highest in the country. He said that the people of the state had decided in 2005 that they want to see Bihar moving on the path of development. He said that the year 2005 was a turning point for Bihar. Today Bihar is developing with justice. The youth are getting jobs and a large number of employment opportunities are available for them. New Bihar is a state of industries. The state is becoming prosperous. The people of Bihar will never return to that era of anarchy.
