UP News: Yogi government is now going to give a new dimension to the ‘One District-One Product’ (ODOP) scheme which will give a new identity to UP along with giving a boost to the economy. This scheme is now going to give new heights to local industry, self-employment and exports through its next phase ODOP 2.0. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath says that in view of the changing global market, modern demands, technological upgradation, new requirements of quality and packaging, there is a need to take ODOP forward in a more comprehensive, commercial and result-oriented form. Through ODOP 2.0, the government’s aim will be that the traditional products of the state become a strong base for big markets, exports and permanent employment.
ODOC is the cultural soul of UP
The Chief Minister has now expressed the need to realize the concept of ‘One District-One Cuisine’ (ODOC) in order to give an organized identity to the specific food tradition of each district. He says that the ‘One District-One Cuisine’ scheme is linked to the cultural soul of UP. Every region of UP has some specific food traditions. At some places halwa is good and at other places it is dalmoth. In such a situation, by mapping the special dishes of every district, their quality, cleanliness, packaging, branding and marketing will be strengthened. The Chief Minister says that ‘ODOP’ and ‘ODOC’ together will give new momentum to UP in the direction of ‘Local to Global’.
ODOP becomes the backbone of local industries
The ODOP scheme, launched by the Yogi government in 2018, has today become the backbone of UP’s exports and local industries. So far, more than 1.25 lakh toolkits have been distributed, loans worth more than Rs 06 thousand crore have been distributed and direct marketing assistance has been given to more than 08 thousand entrepreneurs. 30 Common Facility Centers have been approved in the state and 44 ODOP products have received geo tags so far. Their contribution to the total exports of the state is more than fifty percent. ODOP has also received the National Award for the second consecutive time. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath says that ODOP 2.0 should no longer be just a scheme but should become a powerful medium to give new heights to permanent employment, local entrepreneurship and exports.
Small entrepreneurs will get advice at one place
Yogi government has also decided that the common facility centers associated with ODOP will now be made more useful. The Chief Minister himself has directed that involvement of experts should be ensured with Common Facility Centers so that small entrepreneurs can get complete support related to technical consultation, design, packaging and production at one place. ODOP products should not be limited to traditional markets only, but should be linked to large retail networks and modern markets. The Chief Minister says that dedicated ODOP centers should be set up in the Unity Malls being established in different states of the country. Also, by communicating with all the reputed retail networks, it should be ensured that the products of Uttar Pradesh are prominently displayed there.
