Samajwadi Party: Yadav said that we are committed to strengthening the fight for social justice and empowering the exploited, Dalits and minorities.
Samajwadi Party: Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday expressed his gratitude by naming many leaders including his father for showing the path of social justice. Mr Yadav said that leaders like BR Ambedkar, Kanshi Ram, Ram Manohar Lohia, Jaiprakash Narayan and his father Mulayam Singh Yadav showed the path on which the Samajwadi Party would do justice to the exploited and backward people. Thursday was the 19th death anniversary of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) founder and Dalit leader Kanshi Ram. Addressing a press conference in Lucknow, Yadav said that we are committed to strengthening the fight for social justice and empowering the exploited, Dalits and minorities. Said that Samajwadi Party has resolved to form PDA government in Uttar Pradesh.
Kanshiram became MP with the support of SP
Yadav reminded that Kanshi Ram had reached Parliament for the first time only with the support of SP. He said that Kanshi Ram became MP from Etawah only with the support of Samajwadi Party, Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) and our colleagues. At that time, when communal politics was at its peak, it was the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party that together fought it. Yadav said that apart from BSP supremo Mayawati, he is the only person who has installed the statue of Kanshi Ram. Yadav said that during our government, when BSP leaders raised questions on the maintenance of the memorial, I directed the Lucknow Development Authority to ensure its maintenance. He alleged that the monument has decayed under the present BJP government. The color of the stones has turned black. Yadav also alleged misuse of state property and said it was possible that the BJP, which is running a ‘farewell’ sale, might try to sell the precious land of these monuments in Lucknow. The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh alleged that the BJP government of the state wants to make people labourers.
Said- Uttar Pradesh is on top in crimes
Said that PDA also includes women, whom he called half the population. He accused the ruling party of rigging police postings and discriminating against backward and Dalit officers. Yadav condemned the recent lynching of a Dalit man in Rae Bareli. He said that injustice against the backward community is increasing. The incident in Rae Bareli is not alone. Such incidents are increasing. There is clear discrimination in police stations and postings. Citing NCRB data, Yadav claimed that Uttar Pradesh is on top in crimes against Dalits and women. This is not our data, but NCRB’s data. BJP has created a world record in filing false cases and telling lies. He urged journalists to question the government on law and order issues. Responding sarcastically to a question asked about the recent murders, he said, just look at how good the law and order situation is in the state.
