Mamata Banerjee: In Kolkata, the rain has rained droplets of sorrow this time, not a spray of happiness. Open electrical wires wreaked havoc in the city amidst heavy rains and waterlogging that about 10 people lost their lives. Out of these, 9 people died only due to current. After this tragedy, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced relief for the families of the victims. In fact, during the opening ceremony of Durga Puja in South Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee said that the state government will give an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2-2 lakh to the family members. Not only this, the government will also ensure that a member of every victim’s family is also given a job. Mamta has clearly told the people that “money cannot compensate for life, but the government is standing with you at every step.”

Relief to families
Not only this, Mamta Banerjee appealed to CESC (Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation) to give compensation of Rs 5-5 lakh to the family of those killed by current, because these incidents are the result of their negligence. Chief Minister Mamna Banerjee said that he himself has been keeping an eye on the situation for two days. Water has come out of most parts of the city, but there is still trouble in the low -lying areas. He said that due to lack of dragging of waterways for many decades, every time rain water and Ganga water level together submerge Kolkata.

Nature is not in our hands!
Mamta Banerjee said that nature is not in our hands. Kolkata Port, Farakka Barrage and Maithon have not been dragging for the last 20 years. When there is rain in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, its water comes to Bengal and we have to handle everything ourselves. Actually, heavy rains from Tuesday night have stopped the metropolis. Due to rain, river -like conditions were created on the roads, traffic stayed for hours and thousands of people remained stranded on the way.

Mamta extends help to help
The rain may have disturbed the lives of common people, but this relief of Mamata Banerjee has shown a ray of relief to the families immersed in mourned families. Now it has to be seen how much CESC implements their appeal and when does the victim families reach?
