Flight Delays: Big news related to air travel has come out in the country. In fact, the possibility of delay, change and cancellation of Indigo, Air India and Air India Express flights has increased in the coming days. The reason for this is a technical issue that has surfaced in many aircraft of the Airbus A320 family, which has been said to be necessary to be rectified immediately.
What is the whole matter?
On Friday, Airbus revealed that recent testing has revealed that intense solar radiation can corrupt critical flight control data on some A320 family aircraft. This data corruption can affect the plane’s control system, especially the elevator aileron computer. Describing this as a serious situation, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) ordered airlines to install serviceable ELAC in the affected aircraft before take-off. Or the present system should be modified.
more than 200 flights
About 560 A320 family aircraft fly in India. These include the A319, A320 old (ceo) and new (neo) models, as well as the A321 series. The surprising thing is that this software or hardware problem has been found in 200-250 of these aircraft. As soon as these aircraft are grounded for service, flights will see cancellations, delays and schedule changes.
What did Indigo say?
The country’s largest airline Indigo said that it is following the instructions of Airbus and the investigation process has been started. He said that, we are making every possible effort to ensure that the passengers face minimum problems. But flights may be affected due to necessary testing.
Air Lines Preparation
Air India Express said that about 31 of its A320 aircraft will be affected by this technical problem. On the other hand, Air India said that they will also have to do software/hardware realignment in some of their aircraft, which will increase the turnaround time. This may cause delay in flights.
airbus cleaning
Airbus acknowledged that this situation is troubling for both passengers and airlines, but people’s safety comes first. According to him, recently a mild case of uncommanded pitch down i.e. sudden inclination was reported in an A320 aircraft despite the auto-pilot being on. Investigation found that the ELAC unit could be the reason for this incident.
This is why Airbus and EASA have immediately ordered all operators to change or update the system.
trouble for people
There may be changes in the timing of many flights in the next few days. Apart from this, the possibility of delay and cancellation will also increase. In such a situation, passengers should check the flight status in advance on the airline’s website or app. Although airlines are trying to ensure that passengers face less hassle, this step is very important keeping safety in mind. Flights are expected to become normal once this technical update is completed in the coming days.
