PM Narendra Modi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Mizoram on Saturday (September 13). Modi will inaugurate the Bairabi-Airang Broad Gauge railway line. PM will flag off the first Rajdhani Express and other new trains between Aizawl and Delhi. An official said that this will be Modi’s second visit to the northeastern state since becoming Prime Minister in 2014. Modi visited Mizoram in December 2017. During this time, he inaugurated the 60 MW Tuirial Hydroelectric Project near Sipum village in Kolasib district of North Mizoram near Assam border. The official said that the Prime Minister is expected to reach the Lengpui airport at 9 am on Saturday morning. After this, he will fly from helicopter to the Thuampui Helipad of Aizawl. He said that Modi will address a public meeting at Lammual in Aizawls at 10 am. During this time he will inaugurate the Bairabi-Giranrang railway line.

Inauguration of two educational institutions

Modi will flag the Rajdhani train service between Aizaw and Delhi and two other new trains between Aizawl-Kolkata and Aizawl-Guwahati. He said that PM will inaugurate two educational institutions during his visit and lay the foundation stone of six projects of the Center. The official said that security in Mizoram has been increased before the Prime Minister’s visit. Mizoram Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) H Ramthalangeliana said that all police units across the state have been kept on high alert and extensive security arrangements have been made in the state capital Aizawl. He said that apart from the state police, two companies of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been deployed to maintain law and order during the Prime Minister’s Aijol visit. The government has also made extensive arrangements for traffic management in Aizawl and has implemented ‘no parking’ and ‘no trolley’ in some areas and parts of the Prime Minister’s convoy.

Tight security arrangements

The Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) has also asked the residents to close all the shops, private offices and street vendors on the roadside passing through the Prime Minister’s convoy. Strict security arrangements have been made. The state government has directed Aizawl students and all government employees to attend a public meeting held in Lammual. The government has also appealed to the general public to attend a large number of public meetings. The 51.38 km long barbi-sarang broad gauge railway line project is part of the Act East Policy, which aims to promote contact and economic integration in the North Eastern region. With this, the rest of the country will also come under the purview of India’s railway network and Mizoram will come under the purview of India’s railway network for the first time. The project approved in 2008-2009 was implemented by NF Railway at a cost of Rs 8,213.72 crore.

Economic and tourism development promoted

Modi laid the foundation stone of this project in 2014 and its construction started from 2015 and completed within 10 years. Earlier, Bairabi was the only railway station in Mizoram in Kolasib district on the Mizoram-Assam border. Bairabi-Garrang Line Railway Project is an engineering miracle of Indian Railways. This railway line passes through 48 tunnels, 55 major bridges and 87 small bridges. According to NF Railway officials, the total length of tunnels is more than 12.8 km, which is 25 percent of the railway track. He said that Bridge No-144, which is 114 meters high near Sairang railway station, is the highest ghat railway bridge in the country and 42 meters high from Qutub Minar. According to NF railway officials, in addition to improving connectivity, the new railway line will also increase passenger and Mal Dhilai. Will promote socio-economic and tourism development. Will create new jobs and will fulfill the long -standing aspiration of the people of Mizoram.
