Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on 8 September to inaugurate Bhupen Hazarika’s year -long birth centenary celebrations.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on 8 September to inaugurate Bhupen Hazarika’s year -long birth centenary celebrations. He informed that the Prime Minister will first reach Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Golaghat district and dedicate the bio-ethanol plant set up at a cost of Rs 4,200 crore to the nation. After this, Prime Minister will go to Mangaldoi in Darrang district, where he will inaugurate the Guwahati-Race Road, which is a bridge to Kuruva and Nargi in Guwahati, and a bridge of Mangaldoi medical college is a bridge and Mangaldoi Medical Hospital. Will also lay the foundation stone. Sarma told that in the evening, he will reach Guwahati and will inaugurate the birth centenary celebrations of the cultural veteran Bhupen Hazarika of Assam.

‘People are eagerly waiting’

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “The people of Assam are eagerly waiting for the Prime Minister’s arrival to inaugurate various projects in the state including the birth centenary celebrations of Brahmaputra organized by the state government. Due to various development projects started, the morale of the people of the state is very high due to various development projects. We hope that the Prime Minister will inaugurate many of these projects in the next six months. The state government has also appropriately used the Center’s funds and has used it for public welfare. ”

Which list asked to prepare?

The Chief Minister said that he has instructed the district commissioners to prepare a list of 50 people who came in contact with Hazarika and they will be invited to the ceremony. He said that apart from this, 1,000 artists will also be invited to present parts of the major songs of Hazarika. Sarma also launched a portal in this regard, where people wishing to attend the ceremony can register by 20 August. The invitation will be sent to him by the department on the cultural affairs of the state. He said that the Prime Minister will also release the biography of Hazarika in the ceremony. The state government will organize a year -long celebrations across the country including Delhi, Mumbai, West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh to remember Hazarika’s legacy.
