Delhi AQI: Once again pollution in Delhi has reached the red alert mark. Meanwhile, the issue of AQI has also become a political arena and AAP-BJP are blaming each other.
Delhi AQI : After Diwali, the air of Delhi became poisonous and on Tuesday morning AQI was recorded near 500. Now people have also started wearing masks before leaving the house. Meanwhile, political temperature has also increased due to increase in AQI in Delhi. Opposition party Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) criticized the Delhi government, while BJP blamed the problem on stubble burning in Punjab, ruled by the Arvind Kejriwal-led party. AAP’s Delhi unit president Saurabh Bhardwaj wanted to know from the Delhi government led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta why it decided to use artificial rain to bring the situation under control.
Banned firecrackers burst: AAP
Saurabh Bhardwaj accused the Rekha government of bursting banned firecrackers during Diwali and questioned whether the Delhi government was in collusion with the firecracker manufacturing lobby. The AAP leader claimed that no Air Quality Index (AQI) data was available on Diwali night and BJP was responsible for this. While retaliating, BJP State President Virendra Sachdeva in a statement accused AAP leaders including Saurabh Bhardwaj of indulging in appeasement politics just to garner minority votes by blaming the decline in air quality on Diwali and bursting of firecrackers. He said that this is the reason why he keeps spreading confusion among the public by bringing up some issue or the other.
Congress-AAP did nothing for pollution: BJP
Virendra Sachdeva stressed that bursting crackers on Diwali is a welcome gesture and has not had any significant negative impact on the air pollution situation in the city. He told that last year during the AAP government, Delhi’s AQI was recorded at 396 on the morning of October 31, 2024. Sachdeva further said that in comparison, Delhi’s average AQI was recorded at 356 on October 21 this year. He claimed that the Congress and AAP led governments did nothing to control pollution. But when the Rekha Gupta led BJP government is working in a planned manner to improve the situation, its party leaders are making statements. Sachdeva blamed the burning of stubble by farmers in Punjab for the pollution in Delhi.
