Navjot Kaur Sidhu Suspended: There is political turmoil in Punjab Congress. Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife and Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu has made serious allegations against the party, after which the party has taken action against her. Punjab Congress on Monday suspended Navjot Kaur Sidhu from its primary membership after her statement of “Rs 500 crore for the Chief Minister’s chair” had created a political uproar.

Navjot Kaur’s attack on Congress President

Reacting to her suspension, Kaur attacked Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Waring. “I refuse to stand with an uncaring and irresponsible, morally dishonest and corrupt president,” she said. “I stand with all my brothers and sisters who have been hurt by his incompetence and irresponsible behavior,” she said on

In her post, Navjot Kaur accused Waring of dividing the Congress “into pieces” and courting Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to avoid arrest in several cases. Apart from this, he accused him of involvement in SC/ST Act arrest case, bus body case and 2500 acres land grabbing case.

Allegation of buying tickets by paying money

Earlier, Waring had issued a notice which read – “Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu is immediately suspended from the primary membership of the party.” On Monday, Navjot Kaur alleged that Congress candidate for Tarn Taran by-election, Karanbir Singh Burj, had given Rs 10 crore to two Punjab Congress leaders for party tickets. Burj called these allegations baseless and asked him to tell the source of the allegations. Burj, who lost the Tarn Taran by-election last month, said he never paid a single rupee for the ticket nor did anyone ask him for money. Burj said in a video message, “I am ready to take oath in the Gurudwara in this regard.”

The uproar started with this statement

Earlier speaking to reporters on Saturday evening, Navjot Kaur Sidhu said that if Congress announces her as the chief ministerial face of the party in Punjab, her husband will return to active politics. He said that we do not have money to give to any party, but they can turn Punjab into a golden state. He told reporters, “We always speak for Punjab and Punjabiyat… but we do not have Rs 500 crore which we can give to sit on the Chief Minister’s chair.” When he was asked whether anyone asked him for money, he said, “No, but the one who gives a suitcase worth Rs 500 crore becomes the CM.”
