New Delhi: In Delhi, the police have busted the racket that blows the money by changing the ATM card. Police said that the gang used to stand around the ATM booth. When an elderly or woman used to go to the booth to withdraw money from ATM, the gang members also entered the booth. When the elderly or the woman did not come out of the money, the members used to take them into their sweet things and take their ATM card and change them with their ATM card. After this, he used to return to the elderly or woman, saying that technical problem was said. Then the gang members used to withdraw money from their ATM card.
The accused used to withdraw cash from the changed real card
An official said on Monday that two people have been arrested for cheating the elders by offering help, then their debit cards with the stolen card that looks equally. Both have been identified as Asif (25) and Talib alias Kallu (25). Both were caught from Shahdara area of Delhi. The accused said that they used the real cards replaced to withdraw cash or shop. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vikram Singh said that the accused used to hover near the ATM kiosk and contact people who appeared confused or elderly. While offering help, one of them was pretending to help the victim, while registering his pin, closely watching his PIN.
26 ATM cards recovered
He said that success was achieved when the police got information that the suspects involved in vehicle theft and financial fraud would go towards Shahdara-Mauzpur area on the stolen scooter. A police team laid a trap on Kardampuri Nala Road and arrested both the accused. The official said that Asif found a total of 26 stolen ATM cards and 15 with Talib.
Both accused registered several cases in Uttar Pradesh
The official said that in CCTV footage from an ATM in Kalyanpuri, the suspects were shown to swap the card and spy on the pin, while in another clip from a Burari’s shoe shop, Asif was shown using one of the stolen cards to buy sportswear. Both people have a broad criminal record in Uttar Pradesh. Asif has eight previous cases including Arms Act and Gangster Act. Talib is involved in seven criminal cases including theft, robbery and attack. The DCP said that further investigation is going on to identify more victims.
