Dalit Hari Om Murder Case : Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi met the family of Hariom Valmiki on Friday. During this, he heard the grief from the family members and criticized Uttar Pradesh and said that the oppression of Dalits is at its peak under the Yogi government. The Congress leader spent about 25 minutes with his family members in Fatehpur district. During this, he spoke to Hariom’s father Gangadeen, brother Shivam and sister Kusum and expressed condolences and support. After this, while talking to journalists, Rahul Gandhi also cited the latest data of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), which shows that Uttar Pradesh is at the forefront in the cases of Dalit oppression in the country.
Family members shared their grief with Rahul
Sharing details of the meeting, Congress said in a post on Twitter that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi met the family of Hariom Valmiki in Fatehpur and shared his grief. Recently, Dalit Hariom was brutally beaten to death. Congress said that his family is in great pain and is waiting for justice. The party said that what happened to Hariom is the most serious crime against the Constitution of this country and the ideology working behind this mentality is a stigma on the society. He said that we will continue to raise our voice against this injustice. This country will be run by Baba Saheb’s Constitution, not by Manuwad. While sharing the pictures of the meeting, Congress wrote in Hindi that Rahul Gandhi is the name of hope and trust.
The victim’s brother made this claim
At the same time, a few hours before the visit of the opposition leader, the victim’s brother Shivam Valmiki reportedly released a video in which the family said that Gandhi should not use this visit for political purposes. Shivam was also seen saying in a video that we are satisfied with the government and we do not need to do politics here. On the other hand, Congress claimed that this video is an attempt by BJP to create pressure and take advantage of the situation. Tight security arrangements were made before his visit and the street leading to Valmiki’s house was barricaded. Let us tell you that during the Jagran at around 1 am on the night of 2nd October, the villagers had allegedly beaten Valmiki to death considering him a thief. It was rumored that a gang was using drones to monitor homes for theft.
