Rajnath Singh targeted leftist historians

Rajnath Singh: Paying tribute to the brave woman Uda Devi Pasi on her martyrdom day, Rajnath Singh said that leftist historians did not give a special place to the Pasi community in history.

Rajnath Singh: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Saturday that the Pasi community and other marginalized groups had contributed to India’s freedom struggle. He was to be given a special place in the pages of history but leftist historians and previous governments ignored his sacrifices. Rajnath Singh said this while paying tribute to the brave woman Uda Devi Pasi, who is remembered for her bravery in India’s first freedom struggle ‘Revolution of 1857’, on her martyrdom day. The Defense Minister further said that India’s freedom struggle is presented today in such a way as if a few families, selected leaders or some privileged classes fought for independence.

Showed bravery and sacrifice

The Defense Minister said that Dalits, tribals, backward classes and women warriors displayed unparalleled bravery and sacrifice to strengthen the freedom struggle. They were equal partners and entitled to equal recognition. He further said that many warriors of this society should not only have been inscribed in the history books but should also have been honoured. Singh said that leftist historians, as per their convenience, ignored the bravery and sacrifice of these leaders. Previous governments also failed to give due respect to the heroes of Pasi and Dalit communities.

Defense Minister remembered the legacy of Pasis

He further said that the contemporary of Prithviraj Chauhan remembered the legacy of Maharaj Bijli Pasi. He is credited with establishing Bijnor and ruling over a prosperous region. He said the construction of 12 strong forts during his reign reflects not only his prosperity but also his strength and strategic capability. Rajnath Singh said that their stories were ignored due to our own shortcomings in recording their contributions. He also remembered Maharaja Satan Pasi, Maharaja Lakhan Pasi, Maharaja Suheldev, Rani Avantibai and Uda Devi and said that their sacrifices should have been written in golden letters. Apart from this, Singh praised UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for including these celebrities in the state curriculum.
