Heavy Rain Red Alert: The Meteorological Department has forecast very heavy to heavy rains at different places in Una, Bilaspur, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur.
Heavy Rain Red Alert: The Meteorological Center has issued a red alert for very heavy to very heavy rainfall in six districts of Himachal Pradesh from Sunday to Tuesday. The Meteorological Center has warned of landslides, sudden floods, land collapse, water logging and water bodies. The authorities have warned not to leave the houses. It is advisable to get out of the houses only when it is necessary. The Meteorological Department on Sunday estimated very heavy to heavy rains at different places in Una, Bilaspur, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur. There is a possibility of heavy rains on Monday at different places in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi and Sirmaur and on Tuesday in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi. Statistics have shown that Himachal Pradesh received 72 percent more rainfall in August 2025.
Landslides and floods caused havoc
The state received 440.8 mm of rainfall as against the average season 256.8 mm. In five districts, this excess was more than 100 percent, ie Kullu (162 percent), Shimla (126 percent), Una (121 percent), Solan (118 percent) and Chamba (104 percent). Landslides and sudden floods in many parts of the state have caused havoc, due to which 822 roads were closed on Sunday morning. These include three National Highways-Old Hindustan Tibet Marg, Mandi-Dharampur Marg and Aut-Sainz route. Officials said that the Manali-Naggar-Kallu route has been disrupted due to the sudden floods in Natar and part streams, after which the repair work is going on. Some vehicles in different parts of Shimla city were buried in rubble, while an electric pole fell damaged. Electricity supply came to a standstill in the surrounding areas.
The state lost 3,042 crores
Between 6 am to 6 am on Saturday, there was 45 mm in Kangra, 37.2 mm in Una, 32 mm in Palampur, 35 mm in Kufri, 18.2 mm in Shimla, 18 mm in Manali, 17.5 mm in Kufri, 17.5 mm in Kufri and 15.8 mm in Mandi. The state has 91 floods, 45 cloudbursts and 93 major landslides in Himachal Pradesh from the beginning of monsoon on 20 June to 30 August. According to the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), 1,236 power transformers and 424 water supply schemes have been disrupted. SEOC data has shown that the state has lost Rs 3,042 crore in this monsoon. District administration officials said that 320 people have been killed in rain -related incidents and road accidents. About 4,041 houses have been completely or partially damaged.
