New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Friday that no slum in the city will be broken until the people living in it get a firm house. He said that if needed, his government will amend the policies to ensure respect and housing for all. CM Gupta presented a comprehensive view to change the appearance of Delhi in a seminar titled “Vikas Bhi, Environment Bhi” on sustainable development in the National Capital Region. He said that the city will now have to accelerate development with better schools, hospitals, roads, water and sewer lines, solar and rainwater harvesting system and revived Yamuna. Referring to the Prime Minister’s call to speed up Delhi’s development, CM Gupta said that the Prime Minister said that the country will move forward if Delhi moves forward.
The pace of development will increase in Delhi
The Chief Minister further said that all his ministers are working for 16 to 18 hours per day to help in bringing the pace of other states and cities to the speed of those who have overtaken the national capital in the last few years. The people of Delhi have lost a lot in those 27 years. Now we have to give Delhi a new beginning. He said these things, referring to the developmental neglect of decades. During the program, Chief Minister Gupta assured that not a single slum will be broken until the residents of them get a firm house.
Women will get safe working environment
He said that he will give a house to every one and not a single slum will break. CM Gupta also criticized the old labor rules, especially the 1954 rule that prevented women from working in the night shift. He said that whether to work at night or not, it should be the will of women. The government cannot impose decisions on them. He announced that the Delhi government has lifted that ban to ensure more opportunities for women, as well as promised safe working environment. CM Gupta said that Delhi is the capital of India and it is a strong development, better infrastructure, technology and better life for its inhabitants. But now we have a chance to recreate it and correct it.
