UP News: A youth died under suspicious circumstances in the custody of Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh. After the incident, family members and villagers created ruckus.

UP News: A youth died under suspicious circumstances in the custody of Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh. The relatives of the deceased and the villagers created a ruckus after the incident. The family members alleged that during the interrogation, the RPF jawans beat the youth badly and electrocuted him. Police said that an FIR has been registered in Kotwali Nagar police station naming three policemen in this case. Police said that Sanjay Sonkar (35) was detained by RPF for questioning in the case of theft of mustard oil from a goods train. The deceased was a resident of Kinki village of Motiganj police station area. Family members allege that two RPF sub-inspectors and a constable caught Sanjay from home. They were taken around on motorcycles in many villages, taken to the station and beaten mercilessly.

Family members created ruckus

It is alleged that when his condition became critical, he was brought to Gonda Medical College late in the night, where doctors declared him dead. Family members say that after the death, the RPF jawans fled without informing, leaving the body in the mortuary. When the villagers got information about this on Wednesday morning, they created a ruckus outside the mortuary. Sanjay’s daughter Mansi alleged that her father was electrocuted. RPF Gonda’s Assistant Security Commissioner Mahendra Prasad Dubey said that Sanjay and his brother-in-law Pawan were wanted in an oil theft case. When the team went for arrest, Sanjay’s health deteriorated during interrogation and he was taken to the hospital, where he died. He said that the situation will become clear only after the post mortem report comes and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.

Case registered against two sub-inspectors and one constable

Kotwali Nagar police station in-charge Vivek Trivedi said that on the complaint of Sanjay’s brother Raju Sonkar, a case of murder has been registered against two RPF sub-inspectors, a constable and some unknown soldiers and investigation has been started. On the death of her husband Sanjay, his wife Geeta along with other family members were in tears in the medical college. The women of the family were taking care of Geeta. From time to time she would become unconscious. He would be brought back to consciousness by sprinkling water on the mouth. At around 12 noon she suddenly became distraught. When she did not wake up even after sprinkling water, the family members took her in their arms and ran towards the emergency. Doctors treated Geeta in emergency. After this he regained consciousness.
