SBK Singh implemented an e-challan for violation of traffic rules and brought the Mizoram police on a social media platform.
New Delhi: SBK Singh, a 1988 batch IPS officer of AGMUT cadre and Director General of Delhi Home Guards, has been given additional charge of Delhi Police Commissioner. Mr. Singh has served in many important positions in Delhi Police with a brilliant career of more than 36 years. He has also served as the head of police forces in two northeastern states of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh. Mr. Singh, an alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, joined the Indian Police Service after graduation in 1986. He later did MBA with specialization in human resource management. A rare mixture of regional experience, administrative innovation and technical foresight is reflected in his policing career.
Public facility desk made for common people
In Delhi Police, Mr. Singh has worked in major positions like DCP in both DCP, northeast and central districts, in addition to the south. He later led the Economic Offenses Branch. Mr. Singh also served as Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) and Special Commissioner of Police in various domains including intelligence, security, law and order, technology and project implementation. In the form of Special CP (Law and Order), the IPS officer created a public facility desk in police stations and supervised major arrangements and investigation in seven districts with 89 police stations. As Special CP (Security), Mr. Singh led the high-profile security campaigns, especially during the visit of the then US President Barack Obama in 2015 and the Indo-Africa Forum Summit in the same year, which was attended by 54 heads of state and dignitaries.
Drug trafficking stopped on Myanmar border
He implemented an e-challan for violation of traffic rules and brought the Mizoram police on a social media platform. He also prepared a strategy to prevent drug trafficking on the Myanmar border. Mr. Singh launched Arunachal Security Mobile Application in Arunachal Pradesh. Apart from this, an online complaint portal was introduced and set up its official Facebook and X handle for public conversation. He promoted more than 1,500 constables as honorary head constables, showing his commitment to Personnel Welfare. A visionary officer, Mr. Singh, played an important role in developing the ‘Lost Report’ mobile application and a web-based police clearance certificate system while acting as a special CP (intelligence) in Delhi Police. His career includes posting in India and abroad along with service of more than seven years in Cabinet Secretariat (RAW).
