Let us tell you that senior advocates Kapil Sibal and Prashant Bhushan, appearing on behalf of the petitioners, have once again alleged that many voters are going to be out of the list published by the Election Commission on August 1 and those citizens will not be able to vote in Bihar assembly elections.

Refusal to publication of draft list

On this whole matter, the bench said that the Election Commission is a constitutional institution and it also has to follow all the laws, as well as if there is any disturbance in this case, the petitioners can present it before the court. The bench told Sibal and Bhushan that you have brought out 15 people who claimed that they are dead, but they were alive. We will take serious cognizance of the matter. The bench said that the petitioner’s side and the Election Commission have appointed nodal officers from the Election Commission to file written presentations. Apart from this, SC on Monday refused to ban the publication of the draft voter list in the electoral state Bihar, emphasizing the perception of the reality of Aadhaar and voter ID card. Also said that it will pronounce the verdict on the petitions filed by the Election Commission against the SIR of the voter list.

Continue to accept voter card and Aadhaar

The bench said in clear terms to the Election Commission that it should continue to accept the Aadhaar and voter ID card for the Bihar SIR process in compliance with its order. The bench also said that both documents have the notion of being real. The bench also said that as far as the ration card is concerned, we can say that it can be forged, but the base and voter card have some purity and there is a perception of their realization. You can continue to accept these documents.
