On the red alert of IMD, the Mumbai administration has appealed people not to get out of their homes. IMD has released ‘Red Alert’ for the metropolis and neighboring districts. School-colleges have been closed due to heavy rains. According to the drivers, there was darkness in some parts of the city due to heavy rains, causing the movement of vehicles to stop and there was heavy jam on the roads. Roads in many areas were submerged after heavy rains. Water accumulated in low -lying areas like Andheri Subway and Lokhandwala Complex, affecting traffic. According to officials and passengers, local trains, considered to be the lifeline of the metropolis, are running late by 15 to 20 minutes.

Orange alert on Monday and Tuesday

Officials said that no change has been made in any route of bus services of Brihanmumbai Power Supply and Transport (Best). The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai and neighboring Thane and Raigad districts, in which heavy rains at some places on Monday and Tuesday and extremely heavy rainfall in some places have been estimated. It also released red alert for Ratnagiri district on Monday and Orange Alert on Monday and Tuesday for Sindhudurg. Mumbai has been raining heavy since Saturday.

65 mm of rain in Chembur

An official said that after heavy rains on Monday night, the intensity of rain increased from 9 am. The island city, eastern and western suburbs recorded an average rainfall of 37 mm, 39 mm and 29 mm respectively in just one hour to just one hour. The official said that Chembur recorded the highest 65 mm rainfall in the eastern suburbs. After this, Shivaji Nagar received 50 mm of rain in a period of one hour. According to officials, on Monday, the city of island recorded an average rainfall of 54.58 mm. Whereas the eastern suburbs recorded 72.61 mm and 65.86 mm in the western suburbs.

Yamuna above danger mark in Delhi

Officials said that the Yamuna river in Delhi is flowing above the danger mark on the second day on Monday. The water level on the old railway bridge has been recorded at 204.80 meters. The warning mark for the city is 204.50 meters, while the danger mark is 205.33 meters. The Yamuna river in Delhi reached 204.80 meters on the old railway bridge at 7 am on Monday morning. The water level on Sunday evening was about 204.60 meters. The Prana Railway bridge serves as a major point to monitor the river flow and possible floods.

Water being released from the barrage every hour

Officials said that the situation is being monitored and all agencies have been asked to take precautionary measures as the water level is likely to rise as per the forecast. An official of the central flood room said that the main reason for the increase in water level is a large amount of water being released every hour from Wazirabad and Hathinikund barrage. According to the flood control department, about 58,282 cusecs of water is being released from Hathinikund barrage, which is the highest of this season. While 36,170 cusecs of water is being released from Wazirabad barrage every hour.
