Bihar Election: BJP national president JP Nadda on Friday described NDA’s victory in Bihar elections as historic. Said that this is a seal of confidence in the development and welfare policies of the double engine government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Nadda said that the huge majority that NDA got in the elections is also a proof that the people of Bihar have completely rejected the ‘jungle raj’ and corruption of the Grand Alliance. The public has adopted the ruling coalition’s model of good governance, stability and development. The BJP chief said that the historic public support received by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar is a seal of trust of the people on the development-oriented and public welfare policies of the double engine government of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Kumar. He said that this unprecedented mandate will give a concrete shape to fulfill the NDA’s resolve to make Bihar a developed state and India a developed country.
JSP got less than 10% votes
NDA is ready to win the Bihar Assembly elections by taking lead in about 200 seats out of total 243 seats. In which BJP emerged as the largest party with about 95 percent strike rate. The grand alliance, which includes RJD, Congress and three Left parties, is struggling to cross the 35-seat mark. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party (JSP), which is being called the ‘X factor’ in Bihar elections, has not yet been able to open its account in the 243-member assembly. According to trends available with the Election Commission, most of the JSP candidates have received less than 10 percent of the total votes. The party, formed by a former political strategist, failed to garner votes despite a vigorous campaign and raising issues like unemployment, migration and lack of industries. According to the Commission’s data, most of the JSP candidates in 238 constituencies are on the verge of losing their security deposits. As per rules, candidates have to secure at least one-sixth of the total votes polled to get their security deposit back.
Deposits of many JSP candidates confiscated
The security deposit is Rs 10,000 for general candidates and Rs 5,000 for SC and ST candidates. An officer said that if this limit is not met, the bail will be forfeited. JSP candidate Mohammad Ekramul Haq from Forbesganj assembly seat got only 789 votes after the 24th round of counting, while 2,253 votes were recorded under NOTA. The very few JSP candidates who got more than 10 percent votes include Tripurari Kumar Tiwari alias Manish Kashyap (16.58 percent) from Chanpatia seat after the 18th round of counting and Sarfaraz Alam (16.34 percent) from Jokihat seat after the 23rd round. Kishor had earlier claimed that his party would win 150 seats, but later he said that he would either be at the top or at the bottom in the number of seats, but there is no middle ground in the Bihar elections. Meanwhile, JSP spokesperson Pawan K Verma said that the party will seriously review its performance in Bihar elections.
