Jamshedpur: More than 20 coaches of two freight trains derailed near Chandil station in Seraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand, affecting train services between Chandil-Tatanagar section of South-East Railway. A railway official said that no casualties were reported in the derailment incident. Private Board Commercial Manager (Adra Division) Vikas Kumar told PTI that train services on both up and down tracks from Chandil have been affected due to derailment. He said that the repair work is going on. The route of many trains, including many long distance trains, has been changed, they have been stopped or canceled in the middle.

Accident occurred near Chandil station
A railway statement said that Patna-Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express, Tata-Katihar Express (up and down), Tata-Ara Express will be canceled on Saturday. Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express (route via Sambalpur) has been sent via Jharsuguda-Rauurkela-Nuagaon-Hatia-Bokaro Steel City-Rajabera while Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Purushottam Express will be sent to Hizili-Modinagar-Adra-Bhojudi-Gomeo. The statement said that the LTT-Howrah Express, trapped between Chandil-Kandra, will be stopped in the middle and will be run via Tata-Kharagpur-Howrah. A big railway accident has taken place in Chandil in Seraikela district. A freight train derailed here on Saturday morning. In this accident, the goods of the goods train came on the adjacent track, causing the second goods train to collide. The accident took place near Chandil Junction Station of Adra Railway Division. Rail services interrupted on both up and down track
According to the information, a freight train laden iron ore was going from Tatanagar towards Purulia. After crossing the Chandil station, the goods train derailed. Many boxes of the goods train came on the track adjacent. Because of this, the second freight train coming from the opposite direction collided with those coaches. Many coaches of the second freight train derailed. What caused the accident? Railways has started investigating this. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Adra Division) Vikas Kumar said that due to the accident, rail services on both up and down track from Chandil have been affected. Repair work is going on. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager said that three passenger MEMU trains, including Tata-Ansusol and Tata-Hatia, will be canceled on Saturday. The LTT-Howrah Express, trapped between Chandil-Kandra, has been stopped in the middle and has been diverted via Tata-Kharagpur-Howrah.
