PM ways: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the new Pamban Rail Bridge in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. Addressing a public meeting organized on this occasion, he launched a scathing attack on the ruling party DMK and Chief Minister MK Stalin of the state. PM Modi questioned the attitude of DMK leaders over the language dispute.
‘Let’s talk about pride in Tamil language, but ..’
The Prime Minister said, “Tamil Nadu minister talks about pride in Tamil language, but when he writes a letter to me, he is in English and signature is also in English. If he is so proud of Tamil, why don’t he use his language?” He raised the question that where does the matter of pride on the Tamil language go when it comes to using.
Medical courses should also be started in Tamil language
PM Modi also gave an important suggestion from the Tamil Nadu government regarding medical education. He said, “There are more than 1400 Jan Aushadhi centers in Tamil Nadu, where medicines are available at 80 percent discount. This has saved about 7 thousand crore rupees. Tamil Nadu has got 11 new medical colleges in the past years. Now sons and daughters of poor families can also become doctors. I appeal to the state government that medical courses can also be started in Tamil language, so that even students can become doctors, so that they can also become doctors.”
The size of India’s economy doubled in 10 years
The Prime Minister said that the size of India’s economy has doubled in the last 10 years and modern infrastructure has played a big role in it. He informed that the budget of areas like rail, road, airport, water, port, electricity and gas pipeline has been increased by six times.
Speaking on the railway budget, PM Modi said, “Before 2014, Tamil Nadu used to get only Rs 900 crore for the railway project every year, but this year this budget is more than Rs 6,000 crore. The Government of India is modernizing 77 railway stations here, including Rameswaram station.” He said that in the last decade, the central government has given three times more funds to Tamil Nadu than before. PM Modi also said that the more the strength of Tamil Nadu increases, the faster the growth of India will be.
