New Delhi News: Sevadar was beaten to death on Friday night at Kalkaji Temple in South-Eastern Delhi. An accused involved in the incident has been arrested. Police are raiding from place to place to arrest the other absconding accused. The deceased has been identified as Yogendra Singh (35), a resident of Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh. He was posted as a sevadar in the temple for a long time. People said that this incident took place in the temple premises at around 9.30 pm on Friday night. Police received information that there was a fight between some people and the sevadar in the temple premises. Police investigation revealed that the dispute started when some devotees who came to the temple asked Yogendra Singh “Chunniprasad” (a mixture of holy scarves and offerings). During this time, the argument increased and the matter turned into violence. It is alleged that some people brutally beat Yogendra Singh, after which he was seriously injured. He was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police investigating CCTV footage
The police reached the spot and controlled the situation and started investigating the case. So far one accused has been arrested and the rest of the absconding accused have been identified. Special teams have been formed to catch them. Police also informed that CCTV footage of the entire incident is being investigated so that accurate developments can be brought to light. Local people and devotees are angry about this incident. He says that such violence at the religious site is unfortunate. At the same time, the police say that the culprits will be caught under any circumstances and strict action will be taken. This incident has once again raised questions on the security system in the temple premises.
Case filed for murder against accused
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Hemant Tiwari said that the dispute became violent and people attacked Sevadar with sticks. An official said that the serviceman, who had been serving in the Kalkaji temple for the last 14-15 years, was taken to the AIIMS Trauma Center, where he died during treatment. The official said that a case has been registered at Kalkaji Police Station under sections 103 (1) (murder) and 3 (5) (joint obligation) of the Indian Code (BNS). He further said that an accused named Atul Pandey (30), a resident of Dakshinpuri, was caught by the local people on the spot and handed over to the police. Police said that efforts are on to identify and arrest the remaining accused.
