American federal judge Rita Lynn has ordered that the Trump administration will have to store UCLA’s $ 500 million Federal Grant immediately.
Trump had banned
In fact, in August, the Trump administration stopped the UCLA grant of $ 584 million, especially allegations related to civil rights violations, anti-semitism and affirmative action. The administration argued that liberalism and anti-Jewish attitude in the university is increasing. But the court believes that to take such a big action, the administration neither adopted the fixed process nor gave the clear reasons. Judge Lynn said that the administration should have followed the Administrative Procedure Act to cut Federal Funding. He also admitted that it is an illegal step to stop the grant of many agencies by sending only normal letters to UCLA.
This has happened before
This is not the first time UCLA has got relief. In August this year, the court got back $ 81 million grant associated with the National Science Foundation. Now the new order has again given new strength to hundreds of medical research projects. These include important research such as treatment of Parkinson’s disease, cell rejerence of cancer recovery veins.
