This colorful and sharp -beak bird is seen during the monsoon in South Asia. These birds are found on the beaches of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, especially Chilka Lake (Odisha) and Pulicat Lake (Andhra Pradesh) are its major hideouts. This bird is adept at catching small flies and insects in the air.
Purple heron

Water filled fields and marshy land are ideal places for this. These birds are found in Bharatpur and Sundarban. With the start of the monsoon, this bird is seen in the Keoladeo National Park (Bharatpur) of Rajasthan in India and Sundarban delta in West Bengal. These birds are found in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Especially Kushinagar (Uttar Pradesh) and Darbhanga (Bihar) are its shelters, where it eats insects and small fish.
