Sri Lanka Mitra Vibhushan Award: Sri Lankan government has honored Prime Minister Narendra Modi with ‘Sri Lanka Mitra Vibhushan’. During this, PM Modi said that this honor shows the historical relationship between the two countries.
SRI LANKA MITRA VIBHUSHAN AWARD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited Sri Lanka for the first time since 2019 and the Sri Lankan government here honored him with ‘Sri Lanka Mitra Vibhushan Samman’. The Government of Sri Lanka would give this honor to the national heads of the countries with whom they have friendly relations. India historically had a great relationship with Sri Lanka and it has also been traditional and spiritually connected. Also, when an economic crisis in Sri Lanka had arisen, India first helped.
140 crores of countrymen honored
The Sri Lankan government has given this honor to Prime Minister Modi amidst India’s help at many levels. Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayake has honored ‘Sri Lanka Mitra Vibhushan’. After getting the honor, PM Modi said that it is the honor of 140 crore countrymen of India. Apart from this, there was a discussion at the delegation level of President Disanayake and Prime Minister. During this time the Defense Partnership Agreement was signed between India and Sri Lanka. During this, many other officials including Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Vikram Egyptian were present.
What is special in Sri Lanka Mitra Vibhushan?
Sri Lanka Mitra Vibhushan is a silver coin. Dharma Chakra remains inside him and he is a symbol of Buddhist heritage. This is the reason why people who believe in Buddhism are in both countries and both have spiritual connection. Also, Pun Kalash made in the medal is a symbol of prosperity and renewal. Apart from this, Navratna, made in the medal, represents invaluable permanent friendship between the two countries. After being awarded the Sri Lankan Award, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that this honor works to show historical relations and deep friendship between the two countries. He further said that I thank the President, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka and the people here for this.
