Attack on Fishermen: The attackers attacked fishermen with iron rods and knives and looted equipment and goods worth about four lakh rupees from two fiber boats.
Attack on fishermen: 11 Indian fishermen, who were fishing near the Nagapattinam coast of Tamil Nadu, were attacked by Sri Lankan pirates. Humsa caused panic among Indian fishermen. The fishermen started running around to escape. Sri Lankan pirates surrounded Indian fishermen and attacked them. It is being told that the attackers attacked fishermen with iron rods and knives and looted equipment and goods worth about four lakh rupees from two fiber boats. Many fishermen have been injured in this attack, the condition of one of whom is said to be critical.
Attack with rods, sticks and knives
According to sources, Chandrababu, a resident of Nambiar Nagar, sent his fiber boat to the sea with six fishermen Vignesh, Vimal, Sukumar, Thirumurugan, Murugan and Arun. At the same time, five fishermen, including Uday Shankar, Shivshankar, Kripa and Kamlesh, went to fish in Sasikumar’s second fiber boat. At around eight o’clock in the night, when the two teams were fishing in the southeastern area of Kodiakarakara, eight pirates riding in two boats from Sri Lanka reached there. Pirates surrounded both boats from all sides. The bandits climbed the boat of Chandrababu and attacked fishermen with iron rods, sticks and knives. After the attack, the bandits looted several valuables including silver chain, boat engines, mobile phones, GPS equipment, lights, batteries, walkie-talkies and about 500 kg of fishing nets.
Panic among Indian fishermen
The injured fishermen somehow returned to the shore and were admitted to Nagapattinam Government Medical College Hospital. The seriously injured Shivshankar has been referred to Thanjavur Government Medical College Hospital for treatment. Nagapattinam coastal police have registered a case and started investigation. After this incident, panic has spread among Indian fishermen. Now they are also afraid of going to the sea to catch fish. On the other hand, after the incident, the administration said that Indian fishermen will be given complete security. There will be no crisis on their livelihood. The administration is fully with fishermen.
