CBSE Examination Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj has directed in a letter to schools that schools should regularly monitor and maintain the correct attendance record.
New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has instructed schools to strictly follow the requirement of 75 percent attendance for students appearing in board examination. Officials said that according to the CBSE examination bye -laws, a minimum of 75 percent attendance of students is mandatory for appearing in board examinations. CBSE only offers a discount of 25 percent in emergency situations such as medical emergency, participation in national or international sports events and other serious causes, provided the required documents or records are available. Officials said that all students and parents should be made aware of compulsory 75 percent attendance requirement criteria and possible results of not meeting this criteria.
Recognition will be canceled when attendance record is incomplete
Said that any student, if he is on leave for medical or any other reason, will have to apply for a holiday in school with proper medical and other documents while taking leave. The attendance register should be updated daily. The class should be signed by the teacher and the competent authority of the school and easily available for inspection by CBSE. The board may conduct surprise inspection to confirm the presence of students. Bhardwaj said that during such inspections, if it is found that records are incomplete or students are not coming to school regularly, strict action can be taken on the school, including cancellation of his recognition. Students can be disqualified from appearing in the board examination.
Spoke school model launched
On the other hand, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday launched two major initiatives for the academic session 2025-26 career guidance dashboard and counseling hub and spoke school model. Officials said that the purpose of these initiatives is to strengthen the institutional system for career guidance and promote overall psychosis among the students. CBSE President Rahul Singh said at the inauguration that both initiatives have been made for the benefits of schools and students. Said that the stakeholders will continue to develop through active input. Expert teams during the orientation-cum-dialogue session presented a detailed description of the career guidance dashboard, which highlighted its user interfaces, key features and features available to students, teachers and school heads.
