Sushila Karki was born on 7 June 1952 in Viratnagar. She is the eldest of 7 children. He started his legal career in the year 1979 after completing law studies from Viratnagar.

Sushila Karki has been the first woman Chief Justice of Nepal from July 2016 to June 2017. He has adopted the zero tolerance policy against corruption during his tenure.

Karki sealed his BA from Mahendra Morang campus in 1972. And in the year 1975, he earned a MA degree in Political Science from Banaras Hindu University. He then obtained a bachelor’s degree from Tribhuvan University in 1978.
