2001 Parliament Attack: President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi on Saturday paid floral tributes to those martyred fighting terrorists in the 2001 attack on Parliament House. Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, along with MPs, paid tribute to the heroes martyred fighting terrorists in the 2001 attack on Parliament House. On the 24th anniversary of the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rajya Sabha Speaker Radhakrishnan were among the first to pay tribute. Every year on 13 December, a short program is organized outside the Parliament House (Constitution House). To remember this day, President Draupadi Murmu paid tribute to the brave heroes who sacrificed their lives while protecting the Parliament. On this occasion, he said that the country will remain indebted to them and their families.
Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka also remembered
Murmu said in a post on X that on this day we reaffirm India’s commitment to fight terrorism in all its forms. Said that terrorism will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The government will make every possible effort to crush terrorism. CISF personnel saluted at the venue, after which a minute’s silence was observed to mark the anniversary. Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were also present in the program. Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju, Jitendra Singh and Arjun Ram Meghwal also paid floral tributes to the photographs of the personnel martyred while foiling the attack.

The country will be grateful for the supreme sacrifice
In a post on social media, Prime Minister Modi said that our country remembers those who sacrificed their lives in the heinous attack on our Parliament in 2001. Sharing pictures of the tribute ceremony, he said that his courage, alertness and devotion to duty in the face of grave danger was commendable. India will always be grateful for his supreme sacrifice. The attack was carried out by five armed terrorists, but the then Parliament Security Service, CRPF and Delhi Police personnel foiled the attack and no terrorist could enter the building. Six Delhi Police personnel, two Parliament Security Service personnel, a gardener and a TV journalist were martyred in this attack. All five terrorists were killed in the courtyard of the then Parliament House.
