A Delhi Police official said that the newly formed unit will work under a special cell, anti-terrorism unit of force. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Amit Kaushik said that the Operation Cell will mainly focus on monitoring Khalistan terrorism related activities within India and from foreign institutions, especially through social media platforms.
Akashdeep was wanted in many cases
The DCP said that a wanted terrorist associated with the banned terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International, who has been identified as Akashdeep, has been arrested by a special cell of Delhi Police. He said that Akashdeep was wanted in many cases, including a grenade attack at the Fort Lal Singh police station in Batala, Punjab on 7 April and illegal supply of weapons to criminals in Delhi. The official said the team has been assigned the task of monitoring the clock of suspected online materials, digital footprints of restricted organizations and any content that pose a threat to national security. The official said the Operation Cell would be closely monitored on the online activities of banned terrorist organizations, including Babbar Khalsa International, Indian gangsters and radical activities located abroad, and the suspected cross -border networks to involve or promote them.

The official said that the cell will actively monitor various social media handles and internet-based communications used by terrorist groups. Any suspected post or digital material will be identified immediately and the seniors will be informed. Officials said that the increasing use of digital platforms for radical, recruitment and communication by terrorist organizations has made the formation of a special monitoring cell necessary. The official said that this is an active step to stay ahead of the terrorist elements that are fast working through virtual networks. By monitoring their activities in digital space, our aim is to stop any attempt to disrupt peace and security in the capital. Operation Cell will also coordinate with central intelligence agencies and state police units to share real -time intelligence information and support the ongoing investigation related to terrorist funding and sleeper cell.

In mid -July, some schools and colleges in Delhi received emails with fake bomb threats. Between 14-16 July, about 10 institutions-nine schools and one college-were targeted. As of July 18, about 45 more schools received threats, causing about 55 to 60 such alerts. A sender and a 12 -year -old student was detected and counseling. Officials continue to investigate threats that were sent through anonymous servers using virtual private networking and dark web platforms. This incident disrupted studies and increased the concern of parents.
