Jain community is not in protest: Minister
Deshmukh tried to talk to the policemen present on the spot amid the huge crowd and demanded action against those who protested in the pigeonkhana on 6 August. The officer said that the police then took Deshmukh into custody and made him sit in a police vehicle along with other protesters. On August 6, a large number of protesters removed the tarpaulin by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Dadar Pigeonkhana to discourage the practice of feeding the pigeons to the pigeons and clashed with the police. Maharashtra Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said that the Jain community had no role in the protests at the pigeon Danasthal. He had clarified that there is no religious aspect of the issue of pigeon pouring.
Pigeonkhana covered with plastic sheet
BMC again covered the pigeon with a plastic sheet on Sunday. On Wednesday, a person involved in the demonstration of the Marathi Integration Committee said that he had gathered in the pigeonkhana for “peaceful” demonstrations in support of the ban. He claimed that some members of the Jain community disregarded the court orders. He said that the community is considered peace -loving, but some people speak about weapons, which is not expected. A protestor said that we have come here to perform peaceful demonstrations, not violating the rules. On August 7, the Bombay High Court said that it has not ordered any order to close the pigeonkhans in the city, but has refused to stop the order of closure of the municipal corporation. A committee of experts can study whether the old pigeonicians in the city should be continued or not, but “human life is paramount”, the court said.
Supreme Court refuses to intervene
If something affects the health of senior citizens and children, then it should be considered. The court had said that there should be a balance. However, the Supreme Court on Monday refused to intervene in that order of the High Court. In which BMC was instructed to register a case against those who put pigeons in pigeon. Jain monk Nileshchandra Vijay on Monday warned of starting an indefinite hunger strike from August 13 against the decision to close pigeons to closes the places of grain. He said that if the court order goes against his religious practices, the community will not follow it.
