Congress Politics : In Haryana, the matter has heated up regarding the alleged suicide of an IPS officer due to caste discrimination. Congress has intensified its attacks on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the incident and the party claimed that crimes against Dalits and weaker sections of the society are increasing under the current government. Congress said in clear words that the politics of intimidating the people of deprived society is fatal for democracy. At the same time, citing a new report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that between 2013 and 2023, crimes against Dalits have increased by 46 percent and during this period there has been an increase of 91 percent against tribals.
Constant attacks target the Constitution
At the same time, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that the suicide of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar is a symbol of the deepening social poison which is crushing humanity in the name of caste. Congress said that caste discrimination against an IPS officer in Haryana, harassment of Hariom Valmiki, throwing shoes at the Chief Justice and the BJP mentality justifying it are not just isolated incidents, but are a symbol of the feudal mentality of RSS-BJP. He further said that the continuous attacks on Dalits and backward classes are the biggest attack on democracy. This politics of intimidating and suppressing Dalits, backward classes, tribals and marginalized communities is a serious threat to democracy. Congress said that India will run only on the Constitution and not on any Manuwad book.
Officers also have to face harassment
Rahul Gandhi wrote in a post on X account that the suicide of Haryana IPS officer Y Puran Kumar is a symbol of the deepening social poison, which is only working to crush humanity in the name of caste. He said that when an IPS officer has to face caste oppression, then what would happen to the common Dalit in this country? Apart from this, the Congress leader claimed that there are incidents like Hariom Valmiki murder in Rae Bareli, insult of CJI Gavai and death of Puran Kumar which show that injustice against the deprived classes has reached its peak. On the other hand, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also wrote on Instagram that the entire country is shocked by the suicide of Puran Kumar, who was allegedly troubled by caste-based oppression.
