where is the problem
The third round of talks started on Thursday and continued for two days. According to officials, in this conversation, Afghanistan did not give any written assurance of taking action against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists, who are accused of using Afghan soil to attack Pakistan. Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif told a TV channel on Friday night that the talks have been stopped and there is no possibility of a fourth round of talks.

The minister thanked Türkiye and Qatar for their sincere efforts to reduce tensions between the two neighboring countries. “They support our stance. Even the Afghan delegation agreed with us. However, they were not ready to sign a written agreement,” he said. He further said that Pakistan would only accept a formal, written agreement. He said, “They wanted to accept verbal assurances, which is not possible in international negotiations.” Asif said that the mediators tried their best but ultimately they gave up hope. He said, “If they had even a little hope, they would have asked us to stay. Our returning empty-handed shows that they have given up hope in Kabul too.”
The minister reiterated that “Pakistan’s stand is clear. Our only demand is that Afghanistan should ensure that its soil is not used for attacks on Pakistan.” He warned that if provoked, Pakistan will respond. He said, “If there is any attack from Afghan soil, we will respond accordingly. As long as there is no aggression, the ceasefire will remain intact.”
Three rounds of peace talks failed
Let us tell you, the talks started on October 29 in Doha, in which Qatar and Türkiye were mediating between the two parties. This conversation took place after the clashes that took place between 11 and 15 October, in which both the countries clashed. The first round ended without any concrete results, but both sides agreed to another round in Istanbul on 25 October. The second round also remained inconclusive. Even in the third and latest round, there was no agreement between the two countries.
